Chevy start stop technology will disengage for a few reasons. Normally this occurs when you take your foot off the brake pedal or the minimum activation speed has not been reached between auto stops. Sometimes the vehicle's air conditioning and heating setting may require the engine to run in order to cool or heat the interior. Other reasons it may not activate include a low battery charge, an open hood, or the battery has been disconnected recently. The feature also does not work when the car is stopped on a steep hill or the driver's door is open.
