Chevy’s Safety Alert Seat utilizes a tactic feedback technology to communicate the direction of the crash threat. The left and right side of the driver seat has smart vibration sensors to detect and warn you when an object is nearby. When a crash threat is detected, the bottom of the driver's seat will vibrate. Drivers can also be notified with beeping sounds to help you avoid crashes.

The left and right seat vibration pulse works in conjunction with other Chevy safety features. The Forward Collision Alert System uses these pulses to warn you of a potential collision with another vehicle in front of you. When you’re in reverse, the Rear Cross-Traffic Alert System uses both-side vibration pulses to alert you when traffic approaches closely behind you. And the Rear Park Assist System will warn you when objects are on either side of your vehicle.

Using the Safety Alert Seat

The vehicle’s cameras will detect any potential threats that could come in contact with your car. For example, when another vehicle changes the lane without a turn signal, small motors will create a vibration pulse on the right or left side of the seat bolster to get the driver's attention.

The great thing about this feature is you’ll immediately be notified with a beep alert so that you can take immediate action away from a potential collision. Using the Alert Type menu, you’re able to adjust the volume and type of alert you want. Users can select a beep alert or vibration pulses. Vibration pulses provide an alternative to auditory alerts and help hearing-impaired drivers to receive collision threats as well.

However, avoid adding any cushions on the seat, so the safety alert seat can efficiently detect nearby objects. Adjusting your seat won’t affect the performance of this safety feature.
