Rear Cross Traffic Alert

As the most trusted Chevy dealer Fox Lake, Ray Chevrolet not only carries the largest inventory of new and used vehicles, but it stocks Chevy vehicles with the best safety and technology features, including the Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Stop by Ray Chevrolet today for information about Chevy technology and how it helps keep you, your family, and the area around your vehicle safe.

Rear Cross Traffic Alert Technology

Chevrolet’s advanced Rear Cross Traffic Alert technology makes backing out of a parking space, garage, or driveway much safer, and it provides assurance for the driver that the area surrounding the vehicle is safe. When your vehicle is in REVERSE, Rear Cross Traffic Alert utilizes short-range radar sensors located in the rear corners of your vehicle to monitor and detect left- or right-cross traffic behind your vehicle from both sides. If you are trying to back out of a parking space in a crowded parking lot or mall, Rear Cross Traffic Alert will signal you that a car is approaching, allowing you to take precautionary measures.

Rear Cross Traffic Alert Indicators

When the radar sensors detect cross traffic when your car is in REVERSE, flashing red triangles will display on the Rear Vision Camera Display. What is more impressive is that arrows will point in the direction of the approaching vehicle. After a vehicle is detected and the visual warnings are displayed, you will receive auditory or haptic alerts depending on your vehicle. Three beeps will sound from the side of your vehicle from where the traffic is approaching, or you may receive three left- or right-side Safety Alert Seat pulses.

Rear Cross Traffic Alert Safety

While the Rear Cross Traffic Safety Alert driver and safety assistance feature is undeniably helpful, it should not replace alert, responsible, and attentive driving, especially when visibility, weather, or road conditions pose issues. You can turn Rear Cross Traffic Alert ON or OFF through your vehicle’s SETTINGS menu, and on some vehicles, you can turn it ON or OFF through the Park Assist button on the instrument panel.

Even though Rear Cross Traffic Alert provides warning for approaching vehicles, including motorcycles, it will not automatically apply the brakes. Also, Rear Cross Traffic Alert is NOT designed to detect pedestrians or stationary objects behind your vehicle. In order to achieve proper-working radar sensors, make sure they are not obstructed in any way.
