High Definition Surround Vision Technology
Thanks to state-of-the-art safety technology on Chevrolet vehicles, you and your family can feel safer and more protected with High Definition Surround Vision. The advanced safety technology of High Definition Surround Vision uses multiple cameras to provide a 360-degree, high-resolution, digital, birds-eye view of the scene around your vehicle and displays those images on the Infotainment center within the vehicle. High Definition Surround Vision works at low speeds and assists with parking and avoiding nearby objects. This sophisticated technology is also helpful in showing the driver blind spots, pavement markings, other vehicles, curbs, pedestrians, and other surroundings.
High Definition Surround Vision Camera Technology
High Definition Surround Vision utilizes various camera technologies to provide accurate images of your vehicle’s surroundings to ensure added safety. Displaying an overhead video image of your vehicle on the center stack display, High Definition Surround Vision uses four cameras, which include the Rear-Vision camera, Forward-Looking Camera installed in the front grille/emblem area, and two Side-Looking cameras mounted on each side mirror. Chevrolet’s High Definition Surround Vision takes the worry out of backing out of parking spaces, the garage, school parking lots, and other surroundings that prove to be high risk.
When shifting into Reverse to back out of a parking space or your garage, for example, the Surround Vision is invoked using the Rear-Vision Camera and the image will appear on the center stack display. After shifting out of Reverse, Front-Camera view is displayed next to the overhead view. When the driver shifts into Forward gear, the system will present the front view when an object less than one foot away is detected by the Front Park Assist system. The Front Camera image will disappear from the display when your vehicle exceeds 6 mph or by pressing the button on the Infotainment screen on the center stack. Drivers can also manually engage the Front-Camera View by selecting the Camera icon from the center stack display home screen.
