Adaptive Cruise Control Technology
Another reason to visit Ray Chevrolet today! Ray Chevrolet in Fox Lake offers the best of new and pre-owned Chevrolet vehicles with advanced safety technology that keeps you and your family safe. Adaptive Cruise Control is one such safety feature that uses cameras and sensors to create safe following distances between vehicles. The best of Chevrolet technology awaits when you visit Ray Chevrolet -- the top Fox Lake Chevy dealer!
Chevrolet’s cutting-edge safety technology of Adaptive Cruise Control offers assurance that you and your family will be safe behind the wheel of your Chevrolet vehicle. The advanced Chevy safety technology of Adaptive Cruise Control enhances regular cruise control by using camera technology and/or radar technology that automatically adapts the vehicle speed to maintain your pre-determined following gap time between your vehicle and other vehicles detected ahead of you in your lane.
Adaptive Cruise Control reduces the need for the driver to frequently brake and accelerate in light or heavy traffic, and even under Stop-and-Go traffic conditions in most vehicles. While Adaptive Cruise Control uses the forward-looking camera, Adaptive Cruise Control-Advanced uses Forward-Collision Alert sensors, including Long-, Mid-, and Short-range radar mounted either within the front grille or in the lower front fascia below the front grille and/or a camera mounted behind the windshield ahead of the inside rear-view mirror.
Using Adaptive Cruise Control
Engaging the Adaptive Cruise Control is activated by enabling cruise control On/Off, Cancel, Set, and Resume settings. When the Adaptive Cruise Control setting is turned on, a White icon will be displayed. The driver sets Cruise Speed and Following Gap distance, either Far, Medium, or Near Gap, using conveniently placed buttons on the steering wheel. For added safety, the Following Gap will adjust to the speed of your vehicle since it may take greater distance to slow down or stop. Cruise control can be activated when the vehicle is traveling at 15 or 18 mph, depending on your vehicle.
Your Driver Information Center will display a Green icon when a vehicle is detected in front of you using Adaptive Cruise Control. When approaching a vehicle too quickly for Adaptive Cruise Control to brake and avoid a collision, a flashing red “Collision Alert” will be issued. The driver can cancel the Adaptive Cruise Control setting by tapping the brake pedal, pressing the Cancel button, and then pressing the cruise control On/Off button. If canceled, the driver can resume Adaptive Cruise Control from a stand-still by pressing the RESUME button or the accelerator. Adaptive Cruise Control should be viewed as an added safety feature and should not replace conscientious, attentive driving.
