JD Power Vehicle Technology Study Recognizes Chevy Models

In recent Chevrolet news, J.D. Power recognized 3 Chevy models in a study that asked consumers about their vehicle’s advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS). The study surveyed approximately 20,000 owners and lessees of 2019 model year vehicles. Participants were asked about the user-friendliness of their driving assistance systems, and whether they would look for or avoid such technology when purchasing a vehicle in the future.

J.D. Power speculates their findings will be “a major concern for automakers keen to market these lucrative technologies and pave the way for more highly automated vehicles in the future.” Even more important, it will alert automakers to “owner satisfaction” with their brand’s technology, which “strongly determines whether they will recommend or repurchase the brand.”

According to their findings, ADAS in GM vehicles appeared to be the easiest to operate, with their vehicles appearing in the top three in numerous categories. The Chevrolet Blazer was the top-ranked mid-size crossover, with the Chevy Traverse taking second place. Additionally, the Chevy Silverado ranked second among pickup trucks, beating out the Cadillac XT4.

Categories that consumers were most happy with included collision protection features, such as collision mitigation braking. Chevy vehicles also ranked highly for driving assistance and navigation, entertainment and connectivity, and smartphone mirroring.

This is good news for prospective car buyers who want the added security of driving assistance features, but find such systems to be intimidating or too annoying to bother with. As a general rule, people do want a little extra help with their driving, even if they’re not sold on the idea of fully automated vehicles. J.D. Power noted that 63% of those who disliked their current driving assistance systems would still consider buying another vehicle with an ADAS.

The study has led to a surge of internet searches for “Chevy dealers near me,” particularly among consumers looking for mid-size or crossover SUVs (CUVs). Unsurprisingly, “Chevy SUV for sale near me” has been another popular search term, considering that the Blazer ranked first among mid-size CUVs.
