Our top 10 favorite Chevy cars of all time
Visit any local Chevy dealership today and you’ll find at least ten vehicles that thrill you. Now imagine getting a glimpse at every single vehicle ever produced by America’s most innovative, imaginative, fearless car brand and you’ll understand why this list was nearly impossible to put together. But at Ray Chevrolet, we never back down from a challenge.
Here’s our list of the top 10 best Chevy cars of all time:
- The Chevrolet Bel Air (1955 – 1957)
Chevy was founded in 1911, but none of its early vehicles are as iconic as the Bel Air. The 1955 – 1957 second-generation version of the Bel Air reflected the brand’s sense of stylish elegance from tip to tail. But the Bel Air wasn’t all looks–it also debuted the automaker’s famous small-block V8 engine.
- The Chevrolet Impala (1959)
The 1959 Impala was simply gorgeous. It also featured a bunch of cool little gadgets and design touches, including a contoured dashboard and a “speedminder” feature which would set off an alarm when drivers reached a pre-set speed limit.
- The Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray (1963)
The ultra-light, super speedy 1963 version of the Corvette Sting Ray is just about as classic as it gets. Plus, this Corvette featured a ground-breaking four-wheel independent suspension and a 327 V8 engine capable of generating 360 horsepower.
- The Chevrolet Corvair Corsa (1965)
A unique, sporty classic that might have been a little ahead of its time.
- The Chevrolet Camaro (1967 – 1969)
This was the car that changed the industry forever and launched a rivalry that’s lasted for generations. The Z/28 model debuted with 290 horsepower, front disc brakes and optional Positraction, making this Camaro one of the most aggressive cars on the market at the time. The 1969 version served as the inspiration for the Camaro’s fifth-generation 2010 model year variant.
- The Chevrolet Chevelle (1970 – 1972)
Leading the pack during the peak of the muscle car era, the Chevy Chevelle’s squared-off ultra-butch exterior styling was unforgettable. The vehicle remains one of the most sought-after Chevy cars ever.
- The Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe (1987)
Remember that awesome 3-sided back window? Has there ever been anything more reminiscent of the NASCAR vibe than this car? We don’t think so.
- The Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 (1990)
Thanks to a bombastic debut at the Geneva Auto Show, the ZR-1 set the standard for sophisticated high-performance vehicles for years to come.
- The Chevrolet Volt (2011 - )
Meet the most innovative production Chevrolet of all time. (And the only vehicle on our list that you can still find at a car dealership near you.) The Volt was the first mass-produced plug-in hybrid car and put Chevy on the map as a leader in EV technology.
- The Chevrolet SS (2014 – 2017)
This thing is the epitome of fun. Only 12,000 Chevy SS sedans were ever sold on U.S. Chevy dealer lots but the vehicle remains notable due to its carefree attitude and raw V8 power.
