New 2019 Silverado Specs Blow the Competition Away

The results are in: The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado packs a serious punch with some of the best horsepower and torque numbers we’ve ever seen on Chevy dealer lots.

Although General Motors revealed the new 2019 Silverado truck earlier this year, the automaker has kept a tight lid on any details concerning the vehicle’s powertrain. But a recent announcement from GM Authority confirmed that the 2019 Silverado will launch later this year with two distinctive engine options: a 5.3-liter V-8 and a 6.2-liter V-8.

The 5.3-liter option will satisfy drivers who are on the hunt for a practical truck with a rebellious edge. New Silverado trucks equipped with the 5.3-liter V-8 engine will get up to 355 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque. But if you’re looking for something with a little more kick, the 6.2-liter option simply can’t be beat. It generates up to 425 horsepower and 450 lb.-ft. of torque.

An all-new 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline 6-cylinder engine will also be available for the truck but GM hasn’t released any specs for that option yet.

According to GM Authority, there may still be a few powertrain options on the way. Chevy dealerships are eager to find out whether Chevy will release a smaller base engine to slot below the 5.3-liter V-8. Who knows? Maybe Chevy will shock the auto world with a new hybrid powertrain option for the upgraded Silverado.

One thing is for sure: Chevy remains unflinchingly committed to the Silverado’s legacy. Although much of the media’s focus has been on the 2019 Silverado’s upgraded powertrain options, it’s important to remember that the new truck will have so much more to offer than simply the rough-and-tumble raw power under its hood.

“With the all-new Silverado, we’ve taken the best truck on the road and made it even better,” Mark Reuss, General Motors executive vice president of Global Product Development, Purchasing and Supply Chain, said in a recent statement. “It has a longer wheelbase, more passenger and cargo volume, and yet, thanks to our mixed materials strategy and mass reduction expertise, the new truck is 450 pounds lighter than the current model.”

The new Silverado will feature upgraded specs on just about every inch of its exterior and interior. The new truck will offer best-in-class cargo volume, an improved steel bed floor, 12 super-strong tie-downs, a power up/down tailgate that can be operated via a key fob, extra legroom inside the stretched cab, and a list of interior upgrades that’s way too long to post here.
