GM Reveals a New Corvette

The Corvette was first introduced in 1953. Since then, it has seen numerous redesigns, plenty of engine options, new technology, and so much more. However, for 2020, the Corvette might be undergoing the biggest change since its beginning in 1953. Learn more about this below.

The Chevy Corvette has always been a front engine, rear-wheel-drive sports car, but for 2020, this vehicle is moving its engine to the back of the vehicle.

CNN tells us about the reason for the moving of the engine: “Putting the engine behind the driver and passenger -- called a rear mid-engined layout -- places the heaviest single part of the car as close as possible to the vehicle's absolute center. This way, the car is balanced in its handling, being neither especially heavy at the front or at the back. Having the engine more toward the rear also helps during hard acceleration since there is more weight to hold down the rear wheels that power the car.”

What exactly will the new Corvette engine consist of? The exact engine options for the 2020 Corvette have not been released yet, but there are rumors that suggest there will be at least three different engine options for the new Corvette. Also, with this new mid-engine layout, you know the Corvette will be more powerful than ever.

The current 2019 Chevy Corvette has a base 455-horsepower, 6.2-liter V8 engine. This engine is also offered with superchargers to give it a more powerful performance in higher trim levels. That means the 2019 Corvette can give you up to 755-horsepower total. The 2020 Chevy Corvette should exceed these numbers significantly.

When will we know more about this mid-engined Corvette? Chevy will be revealing the 2020 Chevy Corvette on July 18th, so you only have to wait until then. The Chevy Corvette has a long history, but for 2020, it is being revised and improved. The 2020 Chevy Corvette will be better than ever, so be on the lookout for this vehicle.
