Chevy E10 Concept Thrills the Hot Rod World
Many people believe electric vehicles are the way of the future. However, there are also many people who are big fans of classic automobiles. Chevy is bringing you a compromise between those two with their E10 concept vehicle. Learn more about this below.
Chevy has a new electric concept vehicle that has the look of a 1962 C-10 pickup, but is powered by an electric engine based on components from the Bolt EV. This vehicle will not only look great, but it will provide you with 450-horsepower and get you from zero to 60 in just five seconds.
How Will This E10 Vehicle Work?
This Chevy concept vehicle will be powered by an electric Connect & Cruise system. This will allow Chevy to combine zero emissions driving with classic vehicle style and performance.
According to Chevrolet, “The E-10’s Connect & Cruise concept propulsion system is composed of a double stack of Chevrolet Performance concept electric crate motors (eCrate), two 400-volt batteries and a conventional SuperMatic™ 4L75-E automatic transmission. The double stack eCrate motor replaces the truck’s original gas engine under the hood and is connected to the automatic transmission, which transfers torque to the rear axle. Power to the drive stack comes from the pair of independent Chevrolet Bolt EV power electronics and two production Bolt EV battery packs. Mounted in the truck’s bed, each offers 60 kWh of usable energy under a hard tonneau cover.”
However, the power and the look are not the only factors that make a car feel vintage. The sound of a gasoline hot rod is very different than an electric motor. Chevy has a solution for this as well. There will be a sound emulator that can be found on this electric vehicle. This emulator will have three speakers to simulate the induction sound of a vehicle to mimic an internal combustion engine.
The Chevy E10 is just a concept vehicle for now, but Chevy says that they could use parts from the Chevy Bolt EV to make this vehicle a reality. Would you drive an electrified hot rod?
