As Competitors Leave The Sedan Market, Chevy Steps Up
Some drivers might view sedans as old-fashioned, old school relics of a bygone era. But where some automakers see a dried-up market, Chevrolet sees an opportunity.
At Ray Chevrolet, you’ll find an insane variety of new Chevy models for sale, including a range of awesome new crossover vehicles and plenty of sedans to choose from. While brands like Ford have essentially replaced their sedan segments with a glut of new crossover cars, Chevrolet is taking a completely different angle.
With the recent launch of the 2019 Chevy Malibu RS, Steve Majoros, Chevy’s marketing director for cars and crossovers, told Automotive News in a recent interview that sedans are “a pretty big opportunity for us” and revealed that the automaker has no plans to stop investing in sedans in every segment.
Since Ford and other competitors have announced they’re leaving the sedan game, that means that most of the sedan pie will belong to Chevy. After all, compact and mid-size vehicles represent over 20 percent of car sales in the United States–that’s nothing to sneeze at.
The arrival of the 2019 Chevrolet Malibu RS could not come at a better time. This new, sporty vehicle will arrive at a Chevy dealership near you soon and it’s slated to become the anchor in Chevy’s midsize Malibu sedan lineup.
Out of all the 2019 Chevy models hitting the Ray Chevrolet dealer lot over the next few months, the 2019 Chevy Malibu RS is the one we’re most excited about. The newly upgraded vehicle will be available with three new exterior colors, re-styled front and rear exterior fascias, and three new wheel choices. The new Malibu RS will come with high-performance LED lights, dual-exhaust outlets, new taillamps and more.
“The Malibu RS’s fresh look refines and enhances the sculptural beauty of the Malibu,” John Cafaro, executive director of Global Chevrolet Design, said in a recent interview. “It will also be an obvious member of the Chevrolet car family.”
Inside, drivers and passengers will enjoy an entirely new interior color palette, heated rear outboard seats, a rear-vision camera, and an updated Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system. Plus, a new 8-inch reconfigurable color driver information center located in the vehicle’s gauge cluster will provide drivers with important vehicle stats.
Under the hood, drivers will be thrilled to find GM’s turbocharged, 163-horsepower 1.5L LFV inline four-cylinder engine paired to a continuously-variable transmission. This special transmission has never before appeared inside a Malibu, so don’t miss your chance to check it out.
