A Glimpse of the 2018 Chevy Corvette
Coming upon 65 years of production in 2018, the Chevrolet Corvette is an icon that keeps getting better. Whether coupe or convertible, it has competed against the likes of the Porsche, Jaguar and Audi, producing outstanding power and performance time and time again. Today, we’re taking a look at the longest running two-seat production sports car in the U.S., because there’s a lot to look forward to in the new Stingray, Grand Sport and Z06.
Chevy is changing the details but keeping the legendary engines and elements the same for the 2018 Corvette, continuing to lead with a reputation for excellent handling and horsepower, offering drivers freedom at a fast pace.
When it comes to color, the new models are offered in a Ceramic Matrix Gray (which is replacing the Sterling Blue exterior color) and available with a Spice Red convertible top, as well as a Spice Red interior on 3LT and 3LZ trims—trims which also have new interior color stitching packages available in red, yellow and a new blue. The Jet Black suede-wrapped interior, which includes a carbon rim steering wheel and gloss carbon fiber interior trim, is also new for this generation of Vettes.
The new models also features a standard HD digital radio, upgraded rear-view camera image, improved Head-Up Display rotation setting, and Magnetic Ride Control is now offered as a stand-alone option. There is also an available Performance Data Recorder/Cosworth Toolbox to give drivers more data on everything from individual wheel speeds and suspension displacements, yaw rate and intake and ambient air temperatures.
Other changes come in the form of the standard 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels (which replace the previous 18-inch and 19-inch wheels) on the Stingray, which has five new wheel options, including Motorsport and Torque designs.
Both the Stingray and Grand Sport (GS) will get a revised interior color breakup on the 2LT trim that includes instrument panel color.
The GS will also offer ceramic brakes as stand-alone option, without the Z07 Performance Package, and feature an optional satin black center stripe with the Heritage Package, while the Z06 offers two new wheel choices—Black Z06 wheel with a yellow stripe and Pearl Nickel Blade-design—as well as a new gray interior available for buyers.
The GS and Z06 will have a Carbon 65 Edition available on 3LT trim that is limited to only 650 vehicles (including Carbon 65 Edition on Z06 3LZ trim). Each will have a unique vehicle identification number and feature new and noticeable carbon-fiber elements, such as the carbon fiber spoiler and rear quarter intakes with the new Ceramic Matrix Gray exterior color and even a carbon fiber-rimmed steering wheel.
